Transesophageal Echocardiography

Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is used to study the morphology and cardiovascular system. A transducer (similar to a mic) emits ultrasonic sound waves during the process. The high-frequency sound travels from the epidermis and other cells to the heart muscle, where it reboundes or "repeats" off of the cardiac valves when the transducer is placed at specific positions and angles.
